GSA Invests in Solar Energy to Promote Conservation and Sustainability | | The US General Services Administration (GSA) provides high-quality workplace solutions to 1.1 million federal employees in 2,100 US communities. The nation's biggest public landlord, the GSA Public Building Service (PBS) drives the greening of the government by intelligently integrating energy efficiency into building designs. In a two decade span, the GSA PBS has reduced energy consumption by 30 percent and operates buildings at 12 percent less energy cost than comparable private sector buildings. Its goal today: To reduce energy consumption by 30 percent in just 10 years.
| | | Turning Green Building from Vision to Reality | | A shining example of how the GSA PBS sets green building standards is the Denver Federal Center (DFC). Owned and operated by the GSA, the DFC vision is to be the nation’s most sustainable campus by 2020. The GSA built the DFC Solar Park to realize this vision and generate nearly 10 percent of the campus’s peak electric demand. Using solar power is just one of many ways the GSA turns green building from vision to reality. |
